‘Explained’ Season one
Vox media | Netflix
Role: storyboards, Design, Animation, Compositing
During my time at Vox Media I worked as a Motion Designer on all three seasons of their first Netflix series “Explained.”
In my role as a Motion Designer I worked directly with the Producer of each episode to create a unique Visual world for our topic in order to break down complex ideas and topics into a more palatable form via animation.
I lead design and animation on four episodes of season one (Cryptocurrency, Exclamation, Astrology, Political Correctness) while providing animation assistance on several other episodes.
This series was a fantastic creative endeavor and I was given free license to experiment with Cel Animation, Motion, and Design. Care was taken to make sure every episode had a unique feel and it’s own visual language while staying respectful to the Vox's branding and voice.
If you’d like to watch more of the series it can be found on Netflix
